Chanel Catch the Light Holiday Makeup Set Review and Swatches

I am so excited to finally be able to purchase this eye shadow quad since this was discontinued before I really got into Chanel makeup.  This gorgeous Catch the Light makeup set would make a lovely gift with items that anyone could use all tucked inside this gorgeous red velvet makeup bag.

Te set contains:

Les 4 Ombres Eye Shadow quad in 266 Tisse Essentiel– Colors include a medium neutral taupe, soft peachy tone ivory, mid tone brown, and a deep taupey charcoal brown. I love the darkest shade the most as the tone is exactly the type colors I gravitate towards to darken my outer V and crease.

I have already used this eye quad several times and love it just as much as I thought I would. It includes all matte colors that apply with a soft satin type matte instead of a dry flat matte texture. They look more pearly in the pan but apply more matte. They can be applied sheer or built up to very opaque. I love eye shadows like this because they can easily be worn day or night and area easy to blend without being patchy. The shades are soft and classic staple colors for me. They also lean true neutral and are not too warm or too cool on my skin. The longevity of these shadows is great on my eyes as they last all day without any creasing or fading at all. With hooded eyes, creasing tends to be pretty normal for a lot of shadows, but these looked just as good at the end of the day as when first applied. In fact, these are the type of shadows, on me, that start looking better after being worn a couple of hours and blending together with the warmth of my skin. I’m really happy to finally be able to add this quad to my collection.

Base Lumiere Illuminating Makeup Base-this is described as an oil-free base that helps even out skin tone and illuminate complexion. I normally don’t prefer luminous makeup or foundation as my own natural oils usually provide enough illumination as the day progresses, but this base is not as illuminating as I was afraid it might be. It has a subtle illumination that is in no way glittery. I did not detect any glitter or shimmer particles on my skin, only a slight pearly finish that got more natural as I applied foundation over it. This is a nice natural glow that does not become greasy looking. Applied under my usual matte foundation this actually made it appear a little more satin matte. I can definitely see myself using this more than I thought I would. This could also be used as a base under highlighter just on areas of the face you want to highlight more like the tops of cheek bones.

Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm– This is a clear lip balm that is in a convenient lipstick form that can be worn alone or under lipstick. This formula reminds me of the Rouge Coco Flash Lipsticks but completely clear. This is not the most hydrating form of lip balm I’ve tried but this formula is a good medium hydration level that is great to apply right before lipstick or could be used through out the day to refresh lipstick without making it too goopy, like some more liquid lip balms can.

This makeup gift set is available now on Chanel.com and will be coming to stores and Chanel counters soon.
